The Unthinkable is Now Reality
This morning, Porsche unveiled the 2027 911 GT3 S/C—the first-ever open-top GT3 in the model’s 60+ year history. The GT model line expands today with a variant that answers the question enthusiasts have asked for decades: What if the purest 911 could also be enjoyed without a roof?
The answer is here. And it’s spectacular.

What Makes the GT3 S/C Revolutionary
| Specification | Details |
|---|---|
| Engine | 4.0L naturally aspirated flat-six |
| Power | 502 hp (375 kW) / 331 lb.-ft. torque |
| Transmission | 6-speed GT Sport manual (ONLY) |
| Redline | 9,000 RPM |
| Weight | 3,322 lbs |
| 0-60 MPH | 3.7 seconds |
| Top Speed | 194 mph |
| Seating | Pure two-seater |
S/C stands for Sport Cabriolet—and this is the only open-top variant in the current 911 range that is also a pure two-seater, reminiscent of the legendary 2019 911 Speedster. Unlike the Speedster, this is not a limited production model—meaning more enthusiasts can experience this unique formula.

Lightweight Engineering: The S/T Connection
Porsche engineers refused to let a convertible top compromise the GT3 experience. The GT3 S/C borrows extensively from the ultra-limited 911 S/T:
- CFRP hood, fenders, and doors—Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic body panels
- Magnesium wheels (20″ front / 21″ rear)—saving nearly 19 lbs. of unsprung weight
- PCCB brakes—over 44 lbs. lighter than cast iron rotors
- Carbon fiber rear anti-roll bar, connecting links, and underbody panel
- Magnesium convertible top structure—keeping weight remarkably low despite the power roof
“The exciting powertrain of the 911 GT3 comes into its own even more when driving without a roof, especially on winding country roads. Above all, because we have managed to keep the weight of the 911 GT3 S/C particularly low at 3,322 lbs. despite the fully automatic top.”
— Frank Moser, Vice President 911 and 718 Model Line

The Sound of 9,000 RPM, Unfiltered
The 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine features:
- Revised cylinder heads and sharper camshafts from the 911 GT3 RS
- Flow-optimized single throttle valves
- Optimized oil coolers
- Short-ratio 6-speed manual—the only transmission available
The result? A powertrain that rewards at every RPM, now with nothing between you and the mechanical symphony.

Power Top: 12 Seconds to Open-Air Freedom
The fully automatic convertible top opens or closes in roughly 12 seconds:
- Magnesium panels enable a coupe-like roof curvature
- No bows interrupting the flowing fabric design
- Electric wind deflector deploys in just 2 seconds
- Maintains the iconic 911 silhouette with aerodynamic advantages

“We have already learned with the 911 Speedster and the 718 Spyder RS how well our high-revving naturally aspirated engine—particularly dynamic handling characteristics and consistent lightweight construction—fit a driver’s car without a roof. The arrival of the 911 GT3 S/C marks the first time an open top 911 uses a double wishbone front axle. In combination with the particularly high-grip sports tires and the low weight, the car offers driving pleasure on winding roads that has hardly been experienced with an open-top car before.”
