Charging your Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid at Home

This video provides a tutorial on how to charge a Porsche Panamera Electric at home using the included Porsche Mobile Charger.

How to Charge Your Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid at Home

The Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid combines performance and efficiency through its plug-in hybrid powertrain. Understanding the home charging process ensures you maximize the benefits of electric driving while maintaining the convenience expected from Porsche ownership.

This guide outlines the proper procedure for charging your Panamera E-Hybrid using the included Porsche Mobile Charger.

Accessing the Charge Port

Before charging, ensure the vehicle is unlocked. Locate the charge port on the driver side, positioned toward the rear of the vehicle. Press the rear portion of the charge port cover to release and open it.

Porsche Mobile Charger Overview

The Porsche Mobile Charger included with your Panamera E-Hybrid supports both Level 1 and Level 2 charging methods. This versatility allows you to charge at home using standard electrical infrastructure or enhanced installations for reduced charging times.

Connecting the Charger

Select the appropriate power cable for your charging setup. Align the connector with the charge port and insert it fully until secured. Proper alignment ensures safe and efficient energy transfer.

Installation Options

Wall Mounting

The Porsche Mobile Charger includes a mounting bracket for wall installation near your power outlet. This provides organized cable storage and convenient access for regular charging sessions.

Portable Storage

For flexibility, the charger can be stored in its included travel bag when not in use or when traveling with the vehicle.

Charging Methods

Level 1 Charging

Connect the 120-volt plug to a standard household outlet. This method provides overnight charging capability and requires no additional electrical installation. It is suitable for daily commuting distances and situations where extended charging time is available.

Level 2 Charging

For accelerated charging, a 240-volt outlet installation may be considered. Porsche recommends consulting a certified electrician to evaluate your home electrical system and ensure proper installation according to local codes.

Understanding Charge Status Indicators

The Porsche Mobile Charger features visual indicators to communicate charging status:

The Panamera E-Hybrid provides multiple methods to monitor charging progress:

  • Onboard display: View current charge level and estimated completion time through the vehicle instrument cluster
  • My Porsche app: Access remote monitoring capabilities to check status from your mobile device

Disconnecting and Storage

To remove the charging connector:

  1. Unlock the vehicle
  2. Press the indicator button to release the charging plug lock
  3. Press the release button on the connector handle
  4. Withdraw the plug smoothly and safely

After disconnection, coil the cable and secure the plug in the wall mount bracket, or store the entire unit in the travel bag for transport.
