The Weissach Package is an optional lightweight and performance-focused upgrade available on select Porsche GT and hypercar models. It is named after Porsche’s research and development center in Weissach, Germany, the facility where the company designs and tests its most extreme road and race cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The core philosophy behind the Weissach Package is simple: remove weight, add motorsport-grade components, and enhance the connection between driver and machine. Every component included in the package is chosen because it improves performance on the track. Comfort and convenience are secondary concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Weissach Package takes its name from the Porsche Development Center in Weissach, Germany, located about 15 miles from the company’s headquarters in Zuffenhausen. The facility opened on October 1, 1971, after groundbreaking began a decade earlier on October 16, 1961.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The site was chosen because test driver Herbert Linge identified it as having ample land that would not interfere with agriculture. The center was built around a skidpad, which was the first structure completed. Over time, Porsche added a high-speed loop known as the Can-Am track, a handling track, and rough-road sections for durability testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, the Weissach Development Center spans nearly 250 acres and employs approximately 6,700 people.
